(b) Suppose that x is normally distributed with µ = 25 and α= 5. Find the Lower and Upper Quartile. (4)

(a) Given the information n1 = 49, µ1 = 6 • 5 , α1-0.9, n2 = 64, µ2 = 6, α2 = 0.8 Find the Mean and Variance of Sampling Distribution of Difference. (ẍ1 - ẍ 2 ). (4)
(b) Find the Population Mean and Variance if samples of size 2 with replacement. Given Mean and Variance as 10 and 2 • 5 respectively. (4)

(a) A random sample of 8 acres was selected from a particular variety of wheat Make 99% C.j. for average production of wheat from the given data. Production 52 , 41 , 68 , 72 , 63 , 37 , 51 and 55. (4)
(b) A machine puts out 16 imperfect articles in a sample of 500. After the machine is over hauled, it puts out 10 imperfect articles in a sample of 300. Has the machine out put improved after overhauling at α = 0.05 ? (4)

(a) 750 students appeared in an examination and 470 were successful. 465 had attended classes and 58 of them failed. Calculate the coefficient of association to discuss association between attending classes and success.
(b) Why the method of least squares derive a linear trend to the following results for the years 1985 to 1994 (both inclusive):- Σx .0, ΣY = 322 , ΣXY =1550, Σx2.330. Find out trend values as well.
