علامہ اقبال ہمارے قومی شاعر ہیں۔ وہ سیالکوٹ میں پیدا ہوئے۔ ابتدائی تعلیم بھی وہاں ہی سے حاصل کی ۔ اس کے بعد لاہور چلے آئے۔ جہاں سے انہوں نے فلسفے میں ایم اے کیا۔ کچھ عرصہ وہ گورنمنٹ کالج میں پروفیسر رہے۔پھر وہ انگلستان سے واپسی پر انہوں نے لاہور میں وکالت شروع کی۔ لیکن ان کو یہ کام پسند نہ آیا۔ ان کی زیادہ دلچسپی شاعری اور قومی مسائل میں تھی۔
