(b) The bricks, each 6.0 cm thick and mass 1.5kg, lie flat on a table. How much work is required to stack them one on the top of other.

(a) Define simple pendulum. Alsocalculate its time period.
(b) An organ pipe has a length 50cm. Find the frequency of its fundamental note and the next harmonic when it is open at both ends. (Speed of sound = 350ms-1).

(a) Discuss Michelson’s interferometer.
(b) An astronomical telescope having magnifying power of 5 consist of two thin lenses 24cm apart. Find the focal lengths of the lenses.
Question #9
(a) Define terminal velocity. Prove that the terminal velocity of a fog droplet is directly proportional to the square of the radius of the fog droplet.
(b) A sample of gas is compressed to one half of its initial volume at constant pressure of 1.25 x 105Nm-2. During the compression, 100J of work is done on the gas. Determine the final volume of the gas.
